Job Description

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for the billing, receivables and commission functions which includes training and oversight of the Billing Coordinators. Operates as the primary contact for any and all matters specific to billing and receivables for group and individual clients as well as commissions for Agents and Brokers, executing the billing, receivables and commissions processes, facilitating the service deliverables and providing expertise in the handling of all related matters.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the preparation of monthly billing statements, processing and distributing electronically via email or regular mail in accordance with the established deadlines
  • Manage, coach and evaluate the performance of team members; provide employee development and recognition
  • Process notices for suspension, termination and reinstatement of group and individual customers, reviewing results of auto termination for accuracy ensuring that customers are being terminated in accordance with company policy and procedures
  • Manages billing inquiries, receiving billing issues/information (e.g. enrolment, contract language, pricing, explanation of medical benefits) and gathering relevant data to resolve matters
  • Review and sign off for monthly billing, commissions and collections reports ensuring processing and distribution in accordance with established policies, procedures and deadlines
  • Receive and distribute incoming business documents for execution; distribute and assign incoming work load for execution in accordance with established deadlines
  • Host and lead regular customer service training sessions where overall performance standards are evaluated and customer service initiatives are discussed, agreed and implemented
  • Provide monthly reporting of Billing, Receivables and Commission activity highlighting clients serviced, results achieved, and measurement against goals and objectives

 

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of group insurance experience in an identical or similar position, preferably providing superior client service and satisfaction
  • Ability to coach, resolve issues and serve as a link between team members and upper management
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • ACS, FLMI designations or equivalent
  • Strong computer skills inclusive of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to multi-task and deliver superior customer service, managing tight deadlines and demonstrating superior analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent negotiation / influence, collaboration and listening skills
  • Excellent messaging, positioning and presentation of information for customer impact and influence
  • Excellent work management skills - identifying goals and subsequently proactive management of action items to accomplish goals in a timely fashion
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills
  • Strong business and financial acumen with a propensity for accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must exhibit high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to travel as required in order to achieve goals and objectives
